What we collect
When you contact us
Your name, phone number, email address and whatever you choose to tell us about your project.
When you enter a contest
- Name, age, email address, WhatsApp number and city
- Your story, its title, genre and word count, your cover image, and the prompts you used
- Your payment reference and, where applicable, a payment screenshot
- The declarations and consents you give on the entry form
When you book the studio or commission work
Contact details, billing details, and the material you send us for production. Where a payment requires it, we may also need your PAN or GST number.
When you visit this website
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies and does not run analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security. Some pages embed content from third parties — a Google Map on the contact page, a YouTube playlist link, and Google Fonts — and those providers may collect data under their own policies when that content loads.
Why we use it
- To reply to you and to carry out work you have asked for
- To verify contest entries, check payments, run judging and announce results
- To produce and distribute titles, and to pay royalties where due
- To issue invoices and meet our tax and accounting obligations
- To send you information about a contest, booking or project you are part of
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
- Google — contest entries are collected through Google Forms and stored in Google Drive
- Payment providers — they process your payment and hold the transaction record. We never see or store your card or bank credentials
- Contest jurors — jurors receive stories with names, contact details and payment information removed
- Distribution platforms — if your work is published, the author name and biography you approve appear on the platform
- Our accountants and, where the law requires it, government authorities
Some of these providers store data outside India.
Automated judging
Contest entries are also assessed by an automated language-model evaluation, alongside a separate human jury. The story text is processed by that tool; your name and contact details are not. No prize decision rests on the automated score alone — the human jury operates as an independent stream.
How long we keep it
- Contest entries that are not selected: up to twelve months after results are announced, then deleted
- Entries selected for publication: retained for as long as the title remains published, as our records require
- Billing and tax records: as long as Indian tax law requires, currently eight years
- General enquiries: up to two years
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can withdraw consent to marketing messages at any time. Write to zankarstudios@gmail.com and we will respond within thirty days.
Withdrawing consent during a live contest may mean we cannot continue processing your entry, and the entry fee is not refundable in that situation.
Children
Our contests are open to entrants aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Access to entry data and client material is limited to the people who need it. We use reputable providers for storage and payments. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every risk.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
